The Bakestone name is a riff on their family name, Cakebread. The ancient name of Cakebread is derived from a name for a baker of fine bread or the maker of cakebrede, bread made in flattened cakes. 'Bakestone' is a flat piece of stone or iron, also called a Planc that can be used for baking cakes, scones or tarts.
